Sara's Story
Meet Sara (formerly Sorrow)
At just 1-2 years old, Sara is a 46 lb pittie girl (she should be closer to 48-50 lbs and is slowly gaining weight beautifully). She is fully vetted and heartworm negative.
Sara is the quiet, tender soul of the duo. She is still very reserved and learning that the world isn't such a scary place. Fast movements - especially hands reaching quickly toward her head - can startle her, and she may retreat if she feels unsure. But once she trusts you? She is incredibly sweet and gentle.
Leash progress has been huge for Sara! Once the leash is on, she walks very nicely. Getting the leash clipped is still the tricky part - it takes patience, calm energy, and kindness. She needs an adopter who understands decompression and is willing to give her time to blossom at her own pace.
Sara appears to be housebroken and is comfortable in a crate. She does great for baths and nail trims. She will need continued work on basic manners (no jumping or puppy mouthing) and, like most young dogs, can become destructive if bored. A secure yard and supervision are important while she continues building confidence.
With other dogs, Sara does best with young, submissive personalities. Pushy or larger, overwhelming dogs can intimidate her and make her defensive. Once she bonds with another dog, she plays rough - so any canine sibling must be tolerant and playful.
Sara doesn't need to be adopted with Lucy... but they are best friends, and if adopted together, we will waive off one of their adoption fees.
If you're the patient, loving home willing to let a shy girl turn into your biggest fan, Sara will reward you with a bond like no other.

Apply to adopt at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUVR/dog

All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats over 8 months of age, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org.
