Sara 's Story

Update 3/30-
Sara The Inspirational

At six pounds and six years, this adorable chihuahua mix inspires her foster mom every single day with all the energy and enthusiasm she has for life, despite her hind quarters being paralyzed. Sara doesn’t seem to know there’s anything different about herself from other dogs as she romps, plays with her toys and meets new people. With or without the new “wheels” she’s just received for her hind legs, Sara gets around surprisingly well. Though she can be left alone at home for short stretches of times, a stay-at-home parent(s) or remote worker is the right fit for her. Various therapies have improved Sara's condition but it’s doubtful she’ll ever regain use of her back legs. No doubt she will require extra care, but her foster tells us that whatever she does for Sara, she’s repaid “tenfold” with all the affection and love she receives in return. To learn more from her foster about this extraordinary little girl, get in touch with Erica at Silver Linings!

Sara, here isn’t actually a senior. She is three years old and needed help more than what any local shelter could give her.

Sara currently has no use of her back legs. We aren’t exactly sure why so we are currently doing a veterinary work up with imaging to see what we can do to help her.

She is able to move around on her front legs, and she has been shown to have deep feeling in her right behind the leg, less on the left. She is currently continent as well (and able to go on her own), and is going potty outside with help.

We still have a lot to learn about this girl, but we can tell you she is very sweet and we feel very fortunate to be able to help her!
