Sapphire's Story

Meet Sapphire, a bright-eyed Border Collie pup who is already showing all the traits her breed is famous for: social, intelligent, and energetic. Sapphire is the kind of puppy who approaches life with curiosity and confidence, happily greeting new experiences with a wagging tail and a playful spirit. If you're looking for a smart, active companion who will thrive with adventure, training, and a family ready to keep her busy, Sapphire may be your perfect match.

HISTORY
Because we Sapphire was found as a stray, we don't have any history on her. Her DOB is listed as 10/05/2025. She lives with cats, dogs, and teens.

Sapphire is fostered in Tri-Cities, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family!

SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING

Sapphire is currently being raised in a busy foster home with teenagers, dogs, and cats. She has been socialized with both small and large dogs and has shown a friendly, easygoing attitude with everyone she has met.

During her assessment, Sapphire met a 17 lb Aussie, a 90 lb Akita, and even a very enthusiastic 3.5-year-old toddler zooming around on a ride-on toy. None of it fazed her! She took everything in stride and remained curious, social, and relaxed.

True to her Border Collie nature, Sapphire is energetic, intelligent, and always ready to explore. She loves engaging with people and other animals and will thrive in a home that provides plenty of mental stimulation along with physical activity. Puzzle toys, training sessions, walks, and opportunities to learn new skills will all help her grow into her best self.

Sapphire has been exposed to a crate but has not yet been crated alone consistently. With patience, routine, and positive training, we are confident she will learn to feel comfortable resting in her crate.

Sapphire is still just a baby and is eager to learn how to be a wonderful family dog. She would benefit greatly from puppy classes where she can learn basic skills while building confidence and strengthening the bond with her new family.

It's important to remember: Sapphire is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! She is just getting started and still has sharp nails, needle teeth, and a love for pouncing on anything that moves. Shoes, toys, socks, and dangling strings are all fair game in her world. She still has everything to learn about living in a mostly human household and will need patient guidance as she grows.

She will likely trip you, piddle on your rug, and chew something she shouldn't at some point. That's all part of raising a puppy! Please do not apply to adopt Sapphire unless you are ready to invest the time, patience, and energy needed to help her grow into a well-mannered adult dog.

HEALTH STATUS

General info
Sapphire is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. At full grown, she will likely weigh around 35-50 lbs.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Sapphire is $425. Our process starts with an online application and may take a few days to a week to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our part.

To apply to adopt Sapphire, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/HAWA-A-100 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com
to request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
