Santos's Story
Hi, Im Santos!
Im 2 years old, cream fluffy, sensitive, and currently being fostered in Mesa, Arizona.
My Story (From Me, Not the Paperwork)
Okay listen my official shelter notes make me sound like some kind of wild child but I promise you Im actually a sweet boy who got stuck in a messy human situation. I was adopted from the San Diego Humane Society, and then returned the VERY next day. They said I bit a 9-year-old while the kids were playing in the yard. But let me tell you what the adoption counselor actually wrote
She said the familys 4-year-old was yanking my leash really hard, running all over the place, not listening to boundaries, and they kept having to ask the adults to control the situation. Honestly? I was overwhelmed. I didnt know what was happening. And then suddenly I was back at the shelter.
They put me on a 10-day quarantine just in case and during that whole time I didnt show one ounce of aggression. Not one. Because thats not who I am.
Who I Actually Am (The Real Me)
Im soft. Im gentle. Im a tiny bit unsure at first. And Im learning the world isnt as scary as I thought.
When I got to my foster home, they expected some kind of biter, but what they saw was a sweet boy who wanted belly rubs. I still get a little shy on first meetings, but once I know youre safe, Im rolling on my back, staring into your soul, and putting my face on your lap like, Hi Im yours now.
I LOVE playing with the other dogs Tyke and Blondie are my buddies. I play hard and my bark is loud (Im trying to whisper, I promise), but when Mo and the fosters tell me to soften up, I do it right away. I really want to be a good boy and most days, I think I am.
My Life at Home (Spoiler: Im Perfect)
I love my crate. Seriously. Its my safe space. I walk right in, chill, nap, wait patiently for the door to open, and Ive never had one single accident in it.
Im doing awesome with potty training just keep me on a schedule and Ill stick to it.

Bath time? Oh you bet I zoom afterward. Like full send. After that, I like to flop on my bed or wander into my crate for a snack or a nap. Im still figuring out toys, but I really like Bam Bones and lick mats because they help me think and relax.
What Im Working On
Im learning that:

Gentle play is a good thing
New people arent scary
Confidence takes practice
Routines make my little heart feel safe
I pick things up fast because I really want to understand what my humans want from me. Every day I get braver. Every day I trust more. And every day I feel a little lighter.
My Dream Home
Im an active boy. I love walks. I love exploring. Hiking? Camping? Beach strolls? YES PLEASE. Im the type of dog who enjoys seeing the world and then curling up in my crate afterward for a good snooze.
Id love a calm, confident person or family. Someone who understands that Im sensitive not difficult. Someone who wont throw me into chaotic situations and expect me to figure it out alone. Someone who sees the good in me. Someone who leads gently.
When I trust you, Im yours. Fully. Completely. Forever.
What I Look Like
Im cream and white with deep dark eyes that used to look sad and lost but lately, according to my foster mom, theyre starting to sparkle again. Im getting braver. Lighter. Happier. Im learning that humans can be safe. And that my past doesnt define me.
What I want
If youre looking for a sweet, sensitive, playful boy who will love you with his whole fluffy heart, I think we might be the perfect match.
Foster Pupdate
Santos is an amazing puppy, he loves playing and he submits for belly rubs, there is not one ounce of aggression in him. Will he defend himself yes, he is a rescue after all!! He has to be provoked, and he can tell the difference in aggressive play and fun play. Sanots excitement for life is so strong and he acts like he has never been in a bad situation like most of the rescues in our squad. He should be easily adoptable because he is easily loved!
Santos is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped he is being fostered in Mesa, AZ. His adoption donation fee is $1200.00, you can apply for him on our website and read the adoption process there as well.
