Sandy's Story

My name's Sandy, and even though I'm only a couple of years old, I know I've lived a good life already. I'm a big fella, a yellow lab mix weighing in at a solid 72 pounds.

Life is good. I love my walks, especially when the weather is… well, any weather really! Rain? Snow? Sunshine? Doesn't matter to me. I'll happily strut my stuff in my raincoat or snow coat. My humans say I'm strong, especially when a squirrel dares to taunt me from across the street. Car rides are a close second to walks. I stick my head out the window and let the wind whip through my fur. It's the best!

When my humans are stuck staring at glowing rectangles during those "online meetings," I take it upon myself to keep the house calm. That usually involves finding a comfy spot near them and settling in for a long nap. What can I say? I'm a good companion.

I've got a crate I sleep in every night, a real cozy den. Sometimes I hang out there during the day too, but mostly they let me roam free. On sunny days, though, my favorite place to be is the "Sandy Shack," my secure dog patio. I love watching the world go by, listening to the birds, and barking (just a little!) at the mailman.

Food is definitely a motivator for me. Milkbones are fantastic, and peanut butter? Don't even get me started! My humans even make me frozen peanut butter treats in special molds; they mix in my kibble too, which is pretty clever. A good chest scratch is the ultimate reward, though. It just makes all my worries melt away.

I think I would do best with a fenced yard. While I love to walk, I don't like meeting unfriendly dogs and I can be a handful when this happens. I do well with some dogs but a little growl will make me bounce and bark and go a little cray. I would be the perfect dog for a family who doesn't want to go on lots of walking adventures.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on Adopt, Apply for a Dog. From there, you can submit an Adoption Application to be considered for this dog. You MUST be an approved applicant to meet LOLIN dogs. There is no central location or hours to meet dogs.
