Meet Sandy & Pippa (as a pair)

Trying something new to find Sandy a great home. She is timid with new people and situations and despite being honest about this, she has been adopted and returned twice through no fault of her own as they didn't allow her much time to adjust. Her brother was the same way. But he was adopted as a pair with one of his buddies and they both acclimated beautifully to their new home with other dogs and kids. So, I am hoping that this will work out with Sandy as well and give her the confidence that she needs to succeed.
I have paired her with her best buddy Pippa. They're both about the same age and size and they love each other very much and snuggle and play together.

- Must have a securely fenced backyard to potty. Neither of them are used to being leash walked.

Sandy's DOB: 2/15/2021
Sandy's Weight: 13#

Pippa's DOB: 6/18/2021
Pippa's Weight: 13#

They are both vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, microchipped with lifetime registration to the rescue, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention.

Mama Elsa (Sandy's mom) was pulled from the streets the night of the freeze Valentine's Day 2021. Noone told me she was pregnant before I went to pick her up. She went into labor 12 hours later with no power or heat at my house. She was in poor shape from living on the streets and being attacked by several dogs. She had no energy to push. I had to pull the pups out, break the sacs, cut the cords, revive them etc. Sandy was 1 of 6 puppies born, all healthy.

Mama Elsa is a poodley mix dog. NO CLUE what dad was. But all the pups were small breed with short, long fluffy, long wavy, or long curly fur. Sandy has long and soft, non-shedding hair.
I suspect that daddy was a dachshund mix/chiweenie maybe. Again, no clue. But you can always do a DNA test. Mama Elsa's dna test came back with mini poodle and dachshund so that makes sense.

Pippa is suspected to be a "morkie" aka maltese/yorkie mix. She resembles both breeds. Her littermate that was given away before I got there to pick them up, was all white. She came from a neglectful situation living in her own filth.

Sandy is shy with new people and situations and takes a while to warm up. But once she feels comfortable, she is a big lovey and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Pippa is alot more confident and outgoing and is super happy and kissie. They both like to run and play with all of the other dogs and snuggle on the sofa equally. They've got great temperaments.

Neither are leash trained and would not make a good apt dog due to that. They are used to going into the backyard to potty and play and then coming back inside. They're both good in the house and have free roam of the living room. They are crate trained if you're needing to crate them. They also both ride well in the car. I carry them to and from the car for vet visits etc.

Neither require regular full grooming unless you're wanting to keep them on the shorter side. But they do require a maintenance groom every few months to trim their faces and paws... mostly keeping the hair out of their eyes and free from boogies. So please make sure that your schedule and budget can accommodate this. I keep them both long and a brushing once a week keeps them nice. Excuse the main pic. They had just got done playing at a playdate and looked a mess. But it was the only pic that I had of them together at the moment. They're both good with their grooming and Sandy usually falls asleep in my lap while I brush her out. Pippa will run and jump on the chair and then onto the grooming table when it's time to be brushed out. She loves it!

The only bad thing that I can say about the girls is that they have been prone to poop eating. I keep the yard poop scooped and hopefully so will their new home. You can also try an edible poop deterrent. I have too many fosters to make that feasible.

If you think that Sandy and Pippa would be a good match, please cut and paste the link below to fill out an adoption application:

After the application is processed and approved, a home visit and meet and greet with the dogs will be scheduled. If there are any fencing issues, make sure that repairs are done prior to the home visit. Typically, the adoption is finalized the day after the home visit and meet and greet. Out of area adopters would need to drive/fly in to meet the dogs and adopt.
