Sandy's Story
Hi, I’m Sandy… but my friends call me Pants!

Yes, Pants. It started as “Sandy Pants,” then somehow turned into Pants, Pantalope, Pantasaurus—you know how nicknames go when you’ve been loved in a foster home for a while. I answer to all of them.

I’m a goofy, silly girl with a big personality and an even bigger love for zoomies. I live for running wild in the yard, going on walks with my foster mom, and occasionally diving into the grass like I’m going for a swim. Giant tennis balls are my absolute favorite—I proudly show off my soccer skills on a regular basis. If there were a professional backyard soccer league, I’d be a star.

I walk beautifully on a leash and harness and can ignore other dogs out and about (as long as they’re polite and don’t bark at me first). I live with other dogs right now and do best with one-on-one playtime. Big group energy can overwhelm me a bit. If I have a dog sibling in my forever home, I’d love one with a calm, even temperament who isn’t too over-the-top. I haven’t met any cats yet, so that’s still a mystery.

I do need a physically fenced yard in my forever home. Sometimes the world can feel a little scary, and having a safe, secure space helps me feel confident. My ideal family will be patient and let me move at my own pace. A consistent routine and a home without lots of commotion—inside or outside—will help me feel safe and settled. Too much unpredictable movement makes me nervous because I can’t always process it all.

I’ve been working hard in training and confidence classes and have made wonderful progress. My foster mom says growth takes time—“a marathon, not a sprint.” I’m not totally sure what that means, but I do know I’m trying my best every day. Because younger kids can be unpredictable, I’d likely do best in a home without small children or with older, respectful kids.

I promise, even with my few quirks, I am the happiest, most loving girl. My personality truly shines when I’m outside playing or soaking up one-on-one cuddle time. I should probably also mention that I recently celebrated my 3rd birthday. I'm an American Pit Bull Terrier mix, and I weigh about 50 pounds—though my short little legs make me look smaller than that.

My foster mom loves me very much, but I’m dreaming of a forever family to call my own. Maybe it’s you?

Sandy is available for adoption through Ma, Paws & Me Pet Rescue based out of Watertown, WI.
