Meet Sandi in NJ - Smart & Playful Girl!

Sweet Sandi’s name is a perfect match for this Pyr mix’s adorable, sandy-gold coat. She loves all other dogs but has a high prey drive and chases the outdoor cats she’s seen. She loves to play and race around the yard with her canine foster siblings! Sandi adores being brushed, petted, and playing with her toys. She is a happy, active, adorable and lovable pup, who is most content when she’s at home with her favorite people and canine pals. She is shy, and fearful of the unknown, so it takes her time to warm up to new people. But it’s worth the wait because once she lets you into her heart, she is a very loving lady! A DNA test tells us that Sandi is a mix of Great Pyrenees, Chow, Shepherd and Husky. And true to her DNA, this girl is smart, eager to learn, and would do best in a quiet home with an active family that includes a male dog or two to match her energetic play style. A secure, 4’ fenced yard would complete the picture. Sandi has a lot of potential, and with the right amount of patience, training and love she will make an excellent family member!

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
