Samuel Salvare (CONC-A-89)'s Story
DOB: 07/01/2023

Samuel - or Sam, as we’ve come to call him - arrived at our shelter at the very end of 2023, rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation when he was around six months old. Now almost two years old and just under 50 pounds, Sam has spent more than half his life with us, slowly learning what safety, kindness, and consistency can feel like.

Sam is shy around new faces. He watches quietly, unsure at first, but never unkind. There’s a gentleness in him that’s hard to miss - a soft, submissive nature and a heart that clearly wants connection, even if it takes him a little while to feel brave enough to seek it. With the people he sees every day, Sam is a playful and affectionate boy that we've come to know.

One of the brightest spots in Sam’s world is other dogs. He finds comfort in their presence, follows their lead, and enjoys their company. A home with another dog or two would help him continue to come out of his shell and adjust to a new routine. Because of his timid nature, a quiet home without children will be best for him, somewhere where he can settle in at his own pace and not feel overwhelmed.

Sam will need someone patient and kind, someone who understands that he’s never lived in a home setting before. House training, routines, and daily life inside a home will all be new to him. But in return, his adopter will get to experience something truly special: the chance to help a dog discover what it means to truly belong.

Sam is a tender hearted dog with so much potential. With the right person, we know he’ll continue to grow into the companion he was always meant to be. All he needs now is someone to give him that chance.

He’s eagerly waiting to become a cherished part of a loving family; please reach out to us at (704) 784-7387 or fill out our online application.
