Samuel's Story

Samuel hit pay dirt when he was found wandering in a local church yard. One of his rescuers, and now foster, is a NLOL instructor.

One of our most 'unique' inmates to date, Samuel is a brindle gray wire haired low rider with the possibility of having a legendary mohawk hairdo. Although, not tall in statue, his tail is always held flag high and he has a particular strut to his walk. A solid 46 lbs, we are sure he is full grown at 2-3 years old.

He gets along wonderfully with his foster housemates, loves a good play session but also loves to sunbath on the deck or curled up in a dog bed. He is a little discerning in his treat choices but is learning to appreciate all human attention and to be a top notch house/couch potato.

He has proven to have lovely social skills when out visiting stores and parks in town, always enjoying a good walk or car ride. When you look into his warm brown eyes in that decidedly comical face...you can't help but smile.

Many thanks to NLOL Instructor, Amanda, for this handsome boy!

Piedmont Animal Welfare Alliance's Adoption Policy
Prospective adopters must first fill out an extensive application, after which we check their vet records, their references, and then do a home visit. After all that, they may come to the prison (with all pets) to meet the inmate-trainer, one of our instructors, a prison staff member, and a Paw Alliance representative. After a 45 minute meet and greet, if they still want the dog, and we approve of them, they are committed to adopting the dog. But they cannot adopt until the end of our 10 week training.
