The neighbors were really mean and cruel to them and would often kick and attempt to beat them up. There was a kind lady who really feel sorry for them but could not take them home as she lives in a tiny apartment and work over 12 hours a day. She kept them safe in front of her apartment and fed them when she gets home. Sammy and Stevy were always patiently waiting for her. <br/><br/>When I heard their stories, I knew it was urgent to rescue them before they were caught and sent to high kill government shelters. I drove over 2 hours and found them hanging around desperately waiting for a safe place to go. They were rushed to the vet and luckily are healthy except they have heartworms. They have been treated for heartworms and will do well just like any other healthy dogs with a monthly dose of heartworm preventatives in the future. <br/><br/>Sammy is both doing very well in my home. Sammy is very friendly and loves everyone he meets. He walks very nicely on leash and is crated-trained at night time. Sammy is good with other dogs, big and small.
