Sammy is just a bundle of energy and a ton of love! She is very food driven and affectionate, and loves her treats with her training time. Sammy would do very well in a home with being either the only dog or with a submissive dog that loves to play! Sammy loves everyone and if you have a ball to throw, you just elevated yourself in her eyes! With her athleticism, enthusiasm and ball drive, we believe an all adult (or older teens 15+ and no small animals - cats, bunnies, hamsters, you get the idea) would be an ideal home.

She would thrive with a running, hiking or water sport partner! Yes, a “water sport partner”, as Sammy loves to splash around in our kiddie pool. While we haven’t tested her yet, we think she would be a natural swimmer. Sammy is very smart, so she will learn training very quickly, but again with treats because food is her everything! Samantha arrived at the rescue emaciated and matted. Our volunteers and her initial foster got weigh on her and groomed her gorgeous long coat back into tip top shape! Since Sammy is a long-haired German shepherd, she will need regular grooming, so that she does not get matting in her fur again. Don't let the long hair fool you, coated GSD generally do not have the thick undercoat of a typical GSD. That means they do not "blow" their coats twice a year.

Sammy must have her own backyard to roam and play, and living inside with her family. Sammy is not a fan of being confined to a kennel or crate. We believe that a home willing to understand her fear of the crate and find other alternatives for confinement such as work at home situation or room restriction they will see the difference in Sammy.
