Sam's Story

Sam was rescued in Morocco as a puppy, along with his mother and sibling. To protect them from being harmed by authorities, they were hidden in an abandoned house where a kind local woman brought them food and water each day. While this kept them safe, Sam grew up with very limited socialization and exposure to the outside world. He came into our care some time ago, and has spent a long time working with one of our trainers. Over time, and with consistent care, he has matured into a much calmer and more balanced dog.

Today, Sam is an affectionate, people-loving husky who truly thrives on human connection. Volunteers are naturally drawn to him because he enjoys being close to people, seeks attention, and has a goofy, charming personality that makes him easy to love. He is happiest when he can spend time with his humans and be part of their daily routine.

Sam is selective with other dogs and will not be placed in a home with another dog. Because of this, dog parks are definitely a no-go for him. He does, however, do very well in a crate and benefits from structure and clear expectations. He still needs continued work on house skills and manners, but he responds best in a calm, consistent environment - bonus points if his person has husky knowledge and skills!

City living is not a good fit for Sam. He needs space, a yard, and room to run and play. Sam would do amazing with individuals that do canicross, hikes, jog trails, etc. He needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation, and loves being out in nature. Smart, affectionate, and full of husky personality, Sam is looking for a home that understands his needs and is ready to give him the space, structure, and companionship he deserves.
