Salty Sally's Story

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Salty Sally. She is one of 7 puppies, born to Mommy Angel on January 19th. This is National Popcorn Day so they have all been named after popcorn flavours. They are yellow lab mixes. They will have short/medium hair coats when fully grown. We do not expect them to reach more than 45-50 lbs. There are 4 girls and 3 boys in the litter.

Mommy Angel came to us as a pregnant stray, an owner surrender. She was a fabulous Mom, and it was obvious to our trained eyes, that this was not her first litter. All the pups look identical, and we can only tell them apart by their microchips.

Salty Sally has matured into a very loving and high energy gal. The hound mix in her is evident as she has a prey drive and loves to chase. She is crate trained and can be vocal. Sally loves to run and would stay outdoors all day if allowed to do so. She does not have the bark of a hound, but of the Retriever. Sally loves giving and receiving affection, She is always great with children at the meet and greets. She has a very slim build with long legs. Sally eats 2 cups of food twice daily.

The ideal home for Sally is one where she has another socialized male dog to play with. She would not do well as an only dog and may prove too dominant for a resident female dogs. She can climb very easily and will do so if she smells food. Sally will require a lot of excercise to tire her out. She is a real sweetheart for the young at heart!

On March 15, they had their first set of vaccines, including Bordetella, and were microchipped. Salty Sally weighed 4.4 kg.

UPDATE: April 26, 2nd set of vaccines done, including Lepto and Lyme, she weighed 11.1 kg.

UPDATE: On May 21, she had her final set of vaccines. She weighed 16.4 kg.

We thank Steven from https://www.steventaylor.ca/ for these beautiful photos!

Visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application.
