Salma's Story

*Salma is in foster in Puerto Rico. Her adoption fee covers flying her to an airport near the adoptive home. Apply today! PRDF.org*

Meet Salma: a super special "Sato" dog rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. Salma has a beautiful, sleek, black coat and dark, pensive eyes. She is approx. 2 years old and has had so many experiences in her short life! When The Puerto Rico Dog Fund (PRDF) took Salma in, she was so scared of humans; she would shy away from touch and hide under the palm trees. However, with a lot of patience, some confident big dogs to hang with, cats to live with, human kids to come visit, consistent routine, and an incredible foster that works with her daily, Salma is now "Salma the Stunt Dog" - she's a completely new creature! One with playful energy, confidence, and smarts. YES.... this girl is SMART. She has been out-performing the boys in the pack and showing them how to get training treats by simply performing to commands immediately. She is bright, inquisitive, and loves to be with other dogs and people she trusts. She will stay near you when that bond is made. :)

Because of Salma's history, it will be really important for her adoptive family to stick to a routine and understand that she will need time to "decompress" and learn her new environment. Don't get discouraged, Salma will come around, amaze you, and PRDF will be with you through the transition to ensure it's the best match for everyone. But, as she gets comfortable? Salma will be your best WFH buddy, a hiking Queen, and a showoff for her training accomplishments (treats involved, of course). :)

Does Salma sound like she'd be a good match for you and your energy? Apply today and let's chat!

prdf.org
