SAGE's Story
Sage's Doggie Day Out 6/27/26: Sage was with a teenage boy (13). She loved running with him and spending time quietly napping next to him. She was a polite companion for the day. She noticed other people, including cycles and runners) and animals but remained calm and was easy to redirect. She LOVES car rides. Hopped right into the car and quickly settled down. She takes treats gently from your hand. She would be a good travel buddy. She was more attentive to us, her hosts, than the people she met throughout the day but that just proves how polite she is. We started our day at Old Sacramento. She rolled in the grass while we got to know each other. We then checked out the river - she hopped in - and walked around the shops. Next, she napped in the car while we drove to a brewery. While there, she was showered with attention and peanut butter dog treats before taking another nap. Sage's Doggie Day Out 6/21/26: Friendly with a mix of reserved and confident. She did not bark or have any major reaction to any dogs or squirrels that passed by her. She takes treats gently and knows the sit command. She walks easily on leash and doesn’t mix of power walk and leisurely walk. She follows her human around the house but can be independent and settles down easily. Sage went on a 1.5 mile walk around capitol park. She walked at a moderate pace and stopped at times for a quick break and loves rolling in the grass. She did not stop to smell any of her surroundings and was mostly interested to explore every corner possible. We went to the pet store to pick out some snacks and use the self serve bath. Although Sage was not thrilled to go inside the tub once she was inside she was easy to bathe. At home likes to follow you around but then likes to settle down on the cool floor versus a padded bed. She takes treats gently and will let you know she’s really to go outside for a walk by whining a little and giving you her big puppy eyes. Sage's adoption fee has been paid for with a donation from a community member
