Sadie's Story
Our rescue pets are available for adoption anywhere in the United States and Germany. We highly encourage out of state adoption!

Sadie was living in a backyard. Her owner was hospitalized and the home-owners could not approach her. Shiloh's Animal Rescue was contacted as a last hope for her. With the help of a wonderful dog trainer, we caught her and she went straight to a board and train. She is learning to be a dog again and is doing phenomenally! Sadie is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix with a truly special story. She spent her early life as a feral dog, surviving in someone’s backyard with no human contact. Afraid of everything and everyone, Sadie had a long road ahead of her, but she’s proven just how resilient and loving she truly is.

After being rescued, Sadie went to board and train to work on her confidence and socialization with both people and other dogs. She made incredible progress and is now in foster care, continuing to blossom at her own pace. She’s still a naturally shy and nervous girl, but don’t let that scare you—Sadie is one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs you’ll ever meet.

She’s started learning basic obedience and already knows cues like sit, stay, come, crate, touch, focus, up, off, and place. While she’s still building consistency, she loves engaging with her trusted people and really tries to please. Sadie is very dog-friendly and would do great with a confident canine companion to help guide her. She also lives with cats in her foster home. While she’s respectful with older cats and manageable overall, she does show a little drive—so we recommend a cat-savvy home with an experienced handler if other smaller cats or kittens are involved.

Sadie tends to bond more easily with women, and while she is not at all aggressive toward men, she is more timid around them and may try to hide until she is comfortable with them. She’s completely non-reactive, has no behavioral issues (besides shyness), and even when frightened, she has never shown a hint of aggression. She truly doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Sadie will thrive in a quiet, patient home that understands her history and is committed to building her confidence through positive reinforcement and empathy. She is the kind of dog who, once she trusts you, will love you with her whole heart.

If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion and are willing to give her the time and space she needs to shine, Sadie is ready to love you back tenfold.

We cannot guarantee how she will act around ALL cats and other dogs, although she seems to be doing really well around other dogs of all sizes and cats!

All of our animals are rescued from high-kill shelters across California or off the streets and given a second chance. We are a smaller rescue that depends on fosters and adopters to rescue more animals. Sadie is just one of the many dogs we rescue from unfortunate situations.
