Sadie 's Story

Sadie is a sweet, gentle 7–8-year-old Border Collie/Spaniel mix located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she’s the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Weighing about 37 pounds, Sadie has spent the last five years as a deeply loved family companion. Her family is facing an overseas military move, and after a lot of careful thought, they’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find Sadie a new home that can offer her the stability and care she deserves.

Sadie is an easy dog to live with. She’s an indoor companion who does perfectly fine when left home alone—she simply curls up and sleeps until you return. She’s wonderful with men and women and is shy but gentle around new people. She hasn’t had much exposure to children, but her submissive, non-reactive nature suggests she would do best with calm, respectful interactions. When someone comes to the door, Sadie will bark to alert you, but it’s not aggressive in any way—just her way of letting you know someone’s there.

She has a low energy level and doesn’t demand constant activity. While she’ll happily hop, spin, and do her adorable “bucking bronco” routine for treats, those playful bursts are short-lived and end with her settling back down. She enjoys companionship more than exercise and is perfectly content staying home rather than needing outings. At night, she sleeps on her bed or the floor, though she’ll gladly cuddle on the bed if invited.

Sadie does well with other dogs and has even stayed at a boarding facility for a week without any issues. She currently lives with two cats and coexists peacefully—she may playfully jump around them but does not chase. True to her herding roots, she occasionally shows mild herding behavior and enjoys watching birds, but it’s all gentle and manageable.

Health-wise, Sadie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations through October 2026, and microchipped. She is a heartworm survivor and is now healthy, maintained on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. She does have sensitive skin and a dry nose that worsens in the Las Vegas heat, and she does noticeably better in cooler weather. Fireworks and unexpected loud noises can startle her, so she appreciates a calm, reassuring environment during those times.

Sadie would thrive in a quiet home with a small yard and a calm routine. A stay-at-home person would be a bonus, but not a requirement. She should have a fenced yard, as she can become distracted if allowed to free roam. She will come with her beds, food, toys, blankets, a soft crate, car seat cover, leash, collar, and any remaining supplements or calming treats.

Sadie is a truly special girl—gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet charm. She loves cuddling, enjoys being towel-dried after the rain, and has a soft, grateful soul that just wants to be near her people. She’s not flashy or demanding—she’s simply a good dog who deserves a peaceful, loving home for her next chapter.

If you’re interested, go to diggs4dogs.com and fill out an application.
