Sadie's Story

SADIE

BASIC FACTS:

Breed: Lab/Hound Mix
Color: Cream/Tan
Age: 4 years
Size: 39 pounds
House Trained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Good With Kids: Older, very respectful kids only (13 and up)
Good With Dogs: Yes, but only submissive dogs
Good With Cats: Unknown, but probably not

BIOGRAPHY:

Sadie is a 4-year-old 39lb lab/hound mix with the perfect level of energy. She is happy to match your mood and energy: She is content lazing around the house napping on her bed or to go on a long walk or hike with you. She loves her people and is such a good girl. Sadie is looking for a loving forever home and although her current family loves her dearly, they have a toddler and feel Sadie would do better in a home without young children.

Sadie is house trained, crate trained, and knows her commands: sit, down, stay, come, place, and leave it (although she could use some work on “stay”). She does not go on furniture and sleeps happily on one of her many beds or in her crate at night. She LOVES being outside and going for walks. Just saying the word “out” will turn her into a ball of excitement prancing around asking for a walk. She is a great traveler and sleeps on the back seat or trunk, or will eagerly stick her head out the window if it’s open to take in the breeze.

Sadie does have some anxiety and is initially nervous around new people. She will warm up to people after she has spent some time with them. Once she is more familiar with someone, she is very friendly and loves to play. She is a goofball and loves throwing toys to herself and chasing them and loves playing fetch. She is very good about only playing with her own toys and does not chew things that are not hers.

Sadie would be a great fit for a retired person/couple or for someone who does not plan to have children, as she can be nervous around younger children. Sadie has lived in a city apartment and in the suburbs. She has done well in both environments, but is happier in quieter areas.

Sadie gets along well with most submissive dogs that are similar in size or smaller and loves to play with them. She is more wary of certain dogs, particularly dogs that bark a lot and she may resource guard food/treats with other dogs. A home with another submissive and playful dog may work well, but a home without other pets may be a better fit. She has not interacted with cats, but we think likely would not be a good fit.

We are happy to discuss Sadie in more detail and whether she would be a good fit for you. Sadie is up to date on all of her vaccinations, has a clean bill of health from her recent check up, and is spayed. She will have all of her belongings (crate, beds, toys, food bowls, food, leash, etc.) and her current owners have a health insurance plan on her that can be transferred to her new adopters, should they so choose.

Sadie is currently spending her time in Woburn, MA as well as Littleton, NH, with occasional visits to Carmel, NY, so a meet and greet could be arranged in any of those locations. Her adoption fee is $300.00 and applications to adopt her may be submitted via the following website: www.sophiasgracefoundation.org
