Sadie is our resident diva Akita. She’s smart, sensitive and stunning - a trifecta beauty!

She’s about a year old and is typical of her breed. She is a bit aloof but loves to be with you - just not ON you. She’s been friendly and gentle with her handlers and everyone we have had her meet.

She’s sensitive so understandably stressed at the shelter. We have been giving her lots of special time out of her cage and she’s learning advanced obedience skills, started running with a volunteer and she loves car rides too.

The Buffalo Barkery has sponsored her with some funds towards training with her new family. We have seen signs that she might have separation anxiety but in our setting we can’t be sure. A home that is going to go slow and help her adjust is what we are hoping for.


Because of the COVID19 situation, the shelter is closed to the general public. If you would like to meet any of the adoptable dogs, please fill out an application online (if you are not already pre-approved) , call the shelter, and leave a message with your name and phone number and the dog you're interested in. Have patience, and they will call you back when they can. From there, a time will be scheduled for you to come and meet the dog. Please be patient, and remember they are very short staffed at the moment.
