Sabrina's Story

Meet Sabrina!

Sabrina is a 5 to 6 year-old Lab/Pitbull mix with a heart as big as her beautiful smile. This sweet girl came to Dogworks Ohio after her previous owner could no longer afford to treat what they believed were severe allergies and was considering euthanasia. Once Sabrina arrived in rescue, it was discovered that her skin and coat issues were likely related to hypothyroidism rather than allergies. Since starting thyroid medication, her hair has begun growing back, and shes feeling better every day. Sabrinas journey is a wonderful reminder of how life-changing a second chance can be.

At around 108 pounds, Sabrina is a gentle giant who fully embraces the couch potato lifestyle. Her favorite activities include snoozing, following her people around the house, and spending time with her dog friends. While she enjoys a good play session, shes happiest simply being near her humans.

Sabrina can be a little shy when meeting new people and may growl or hide when shes feeling unsure. However, once she realizes shes safe, her affectionate personality shines through. She loves giving kisses and has never caused any trouble in her foster home. She seems to have a special soft spot for women but warms up to men with a little patience and time.

One of Sabrinas quirks is her dramatic approach to getting on furniture. Rather than simply hopping up, she backs up, gets a running start, and launches herself onto the couch or bed. She also loves when her foster dad plays with her and gets her toes, which always earns an adorable play bow and a wagging tail.

Sabrina gets along wonderfully with other dogs and especially loves little dogs. She would likely enjoy having a canine companion in her forever home, though she would also be happy as the center of attention. She is crate trained, potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and responds well to verbal correction.

If youre looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will happily share your couch, follow you from room to room, and reward your patience with endless love and kisses, Sabrina may be the perfect match for you.

Sabrinas Highlights
5-6 years old
Pit Bull/Lab mix
Friendly, affectionate, gentle, and playful
Crate trained and potty trained
Great with other dogs
Low-maintenance short coat
Loves naps, dog friends, and being close to her people
Looking for a patient family who will give her time to warm up and feel safe

Sabrina has already overcome so much. Now all she needs is a forever family to show her that she will never be unwanted again.

She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Her adoption fee is $150.

Please follow the link below for her adoption application. DogWorks Inc. Canine Rescue and Placement's Adoption Policy
Dogworks strives to place dogs into permanent homes based on the dogs' personalities and yours. To adopt a dog, we require a completed application, signed adoption contract, and home visit. Applications can be submitted online, by mail, or in person at adoption events. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact your references and consider suitability. You will be contacted by phone or email, typically within 4 business days, to make arrangements for adoption. If a particular dog is not placed with you, it does not mean that your application has been rejected. Dogworks receives multiple applications for some dogs. Foster families always have the first option to adopt. We do not approve applications on a first come basis as we strive for placement that is best for the dog and adoptive family. The home environment, family composition and yard are very important considerations in our decision to place a dog in a home. Some dogs do not do well with young children or cats, and our hounds require a fenced yard as examples of our decision process. Adoption fees are variable (typically $125-$500.00) and are listed with the description of each dog. All fees collected are used to cover rescue expenses, including foster care and veterinary expenses. Adoption fee will be refunded if you decide that the dog is not compatible with your family within 2 weeks. All dogs have received age appropriate vaccinations, GI dewormer, and heartworm test prior to adoption if they are old enough. Adult dogs and puppies older than 12 weeks are spayed/neutered. Adopters of younger puppies may be required to sign an agreement to complete spay/neuter by 5 months of age. We will assist with spay/neuter costs. All of our dogs and puppies will be microchipped prior to adoption. Adopters will receive a copy of medical records when adoption contract has been signed and adoption fees have been paid in full. Requirements for adoption: Please be aware that your adoption application WILL NOT be approved by Dogworks unless ALL of these criteria are met: >Adopters must be within a one hour radius of Toledo. >Adopters must be at least 21 years of age. >Veterinary reference must be positive. >All dogs in the home must be spayed/neutered. >All members of the household must be in agreement to adopt. >Individual needs of the dog must be met in prospective home (e.g., fully fenced yard for all hounds).
