Ryker's Story

Meet Ryker - Ready to boldly go ... straight into your heart! Set phasers to snuggle, because Ryker is one stellar sweetheart! Named after the legendary Captain Riker from Star Trek, this handsome boy is ready to beam into his forever home and become your loyal first mate.

Ryker originally came to us as a stray, but you'd never know it. From day one he's been kind, affectionate and eager to make friends with his crew. He absolutely loves attention and has a heart as big as the Enterprise. If you're looking for a dog whose equal parts explorer and cuddle bug, Ryker may be your perfect co-captain.

On leash, Ryker usually cruises at impulse speed... but every now and then, especially after experiencing the legendary poop zoomies, he may engage into warp drive and tug you along with him. With some consistent training and regular adventures, this space cadet will continue polishing his walking skills.

Ryker has done fairly well keeping his kennel clean, with only a few accidents here and there. He hasn't shown much reactivity towards other dogs here at the shelter, though we do require a meet-and-greet if he will be joining a multi-dog crew. As for cats, Ryker either politely ignores them... or is mildly terrified of them if they swat at him. Either way, he's never tried to chase or harm them here at the shelter.

This adventurous captain would thrive in a home with someone who enjoys frequent walks or has a large yard for exploration - but don't worry, he's just as happy to dock on the couch for some quality snuggle time. Ryker can be a bit picky with his meals but offer him some cheese or peanut butter and you'll quickly earn his loyalty.

If you are ready for a loyal companion who's sweet, silly and ready to boldly go wherever life takes you, Ryker is standing by for boarding!
