Rye's Story
PLEASE DON'T CONTACT MASSPAWS

Small, sweet, and sassy describes this cute Aussie cattle dog from Hyannis, MA. Rye doesnt ask for much, however shes no lazy bones. As a healthy and fairly active nine-year-old, one of her favorite things is playing catch.

Rye is great off leash and loves going to the beach or exploring in the woods. Being on a leash isnt so easy for her, though she really likes long walks. Shell bark and lunge at other dogs, but some redirection helps get her back on track. She responds well to a buzz collar while on leash.

Rye is very cuddly and a good house-mate. She is smart and knows basic cues. Be prepared to comfort her during storms or fireworks! She is potty trained and can be left unattended while youre away. She is spayed and up-to-date on shots.

Rye can be your only pet, or live with a subdued resident dog. With other dogs, her personality is on the strong side, so shes not a match for dogs who also like being the boss. Currently she lives with a Jack Russell/Australian cattle dog mix. There is also a female Australian shepherd in the house, but Rye and her do not get along and must be separate at all times.

Rye was a puppy when she was originally adopted from a southern shelter. When she was four, her mom died in a tragic car accident. A dear friend who had always adored Rye became the new owner. Unfortunately circumstances changed and they had to move in with relatives who happen to have two children.

Rye is not good with the two young boys, who are 5 and 7 years old. Typically, herding breeds are not a good match for young, small, and/or rowdy kids. If you know cattle dogs, this environment doesnt work well.

Rye does well with routine and positive reinforcement. She is a loyal and loving dog who is in a difficult situation. A local rescue is helping her current person find a caring and appropriate family with dog experience. A house with a yard is preferred.

This is a home-to-home adoption. Please contact Chantel via cek88diamond@gmail.com and please say ARK sent you! Thank you!
