Ryder's Story
Hi, I’m Ryder — almost 2 years old, ridiculously handsome, and fully prepared to steal your heart and your couch space. I’ve got tons of love to give and a whole lot of life to live, and I’m hoping to find a home where I can be cherished for exactly who I am: a loyal, smart, affectionate guy who blossoms with structure, guidance, and plenty of love.

Let’s get the bragging out of the way:
Yes, I’m gorgeous. Yes, I know it. And yes, I walk like a total gentleman on leash — hardly any pulling! I stay cool around people, bikes, and cars, and I’ve even been rocking structured pack walks with my dog friends here at the shelter. But unfamiliar dogs? Whew. I have some big, noisy feelings about them. If another pup gets too close, I might bark, growl, or lunge to let them know I need space. Don’t worry — once they’re gone, I’m back to being my chill, charming self. I just need someone who can read my cues and help keep things calm and predictable for me.

I’ve lived with other dogs before and done well — I’m just a little choosy, okay? If you’ve got another dog at home, we’ll need to take the intro slow, steady, and on leash so I can feel safe and confident.

Cats? Absolutely not. I take my “no kitties” rule very seriously.

Kids? Now that’s a yes! I’ve lived with children before and I do great with respectful, dog-savvy kiddos. I love being around people I trust.

My dream home:
Quiet, peaceful, maybe rural or low-traffic suburban
A person who can read dog body language like a pro
Someone with experience helping pups like me who have leash reactivity
A believer in positive reinforcement (treats, please and thank you)

Now… about the Special Paws program.
You might be wondering why I’m part of it — and it’s really no biggie! I just need a little extra nutritional support to help keep me strong, healthy, and feeling my absolute best. I take a special supplement that helps me maintain a healthy weight and keeps my body running smoothly. My future family will just need to check in with our veterinarian to make sure I stay on track. With that tiny bit of extra care, I’ll keep shining like the superstar I am.

I’ve got so much potential just waiting to bloom — all I need is the right human to help bring out my best. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to fall in love with a handsome goofball who’ll adore you forever… I’m right here.

My special paws adoption fee is $100 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can't wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!

Love,
Ryder
