Meet Ryder
Ryder is a very sweet and friendly 4 year old bichon mix who weighs 46 lbs. who loves to get scratches! He is on a diet working to get towards a more ideal weight (he has already lost 4 lbs since joining his foster family). He likes to meet other dogs and is well-liked at the dog park. He and Addie (his foster sister) run around and play together. He LOVES his walks. Loves them. He bites at the leash when his foster parents take too long to get out the door! He has been going on hikes every Saturday and Ryder keeps up with the most energetic walker (even if he does come home and pass out). That said, he is also content to just relax on the couch/floor next to us in the evenings. He prefers stuffed animals to plastic chewbones but loves to chew on his bully sticks. He snores – it’s adorable – and he likes to be tucked in and to snuggle with his pillow. He will flip onto his back and wiggle around to scratch his back (smart boy!). His biggest problem is that he seems to not realize how big he is and tries to squeeze into places a little small for him. He’s making great progress on his diet and his foster family is so very proud of him!
Ryder had a few accidents his first week in his foster home, but otherwise he is housetrained. He will even go and get his foster parents to let them know he needs to go outside. He's pretty good when it comes to grooming and bathing and will put his head on the side of the tub and sad-eyes. He has a little anxiety, but we expect he will most likely grow out of it as he gets more comfortable and knows he is safe and his family is not going anywhere. Ryder would do well in a house with kids who can play with him, but he would also be just as happy in a slower-paced household that can continue his walks and exercise routine.
Ryder is neutered, current on all vaccinations and micro chipped. He is being fostered in Southern California. Adoption applications are available at www.bichonrescuebrigade.org/adopt.
