Rusty's Story

Rusty, an approximately 6 year old, 14 pound poodle mix, comes to us from a crowded shelter in California. Rusty’s foster mom spotted Rusty on Facebook after a plea was posted from the shelter for help. Poor Rusty had been found stray with a badly broken front leg. So we got to work getting him up here!

Rusty’s leg couldn’t be saved, sadly, but since we did his surgery, Rusty has thrived. In fact, his foster mom describes Rusty as “about as perfect as you can get”. He is sweet, funny and playful. Rusty loves other dogs and would not mind having a dog buddy to cuddle with. He is respectfully playful, never too rowdy, and is starting to show interest in toys.

Rusty is a mellow guy and gets a little overwhelmed by a lot of noise. He would like a quieter house, but would be happy to go on adventures and really enjoys a walk. We would ask that Rusty go home with someone with a very securely fenced yard, as even with three legs, he does try to run off occasionally.

Rusty is vaccinated, neutered, current on his flea and heartworm preventions and is heart worm negative.

There is no reason missing a leg will slow Rusty down. Think you might be missing him? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org.
