Neutered, healthy, and full of quiet charm, Ruger is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand a lot of attention but absolutely deserves it.<br/><br/>Ruger spent most of his life in a no-kill shelter down south, arriving as a puppy and somehow getting overlooked as the months (and years) passed. It wasn’t until one of our rescue partner’s behaviorists visited that someone finally noticed what had been there all along: a sweet, well-mannered, truly good dog just waiting for his chance.<br/><br/>Since being pulled, Ruger has been thriving in doggy daycare, where he gets plenty of fresh air, playtime, and socialization. And he’s making the most of it.<br/><br/>He’s fantastic with other dogs, happily joining in play without being over-the-top. He’s wonderful with kids of all ages, showing a gentle, easy temperament that makes him a natural fit for family life. He’s met cats and done fine, though he hasn’t lived with one yet, so we’d say a slow introduction would be best there.<br/><br/>Energy-wise, Ruger is that perfect “middle of the road” kind of dog. He enjoys playtime, a good romp with friends, or a game of fetch — but he’s just as happy to settle down and relax when the fun is over. No chaos, no constant motion — just a really nice balance.<br/><br/>And maybe the most remarkable thing about Ruger?<br/><br/>Despite growing up in a shelter environment, he has manners. He’s polite, adaptable, and clearly eager to connect with his people. He didn’t get the typical puppyhood experience, but you’d never know it from the way he carries himself.<br/><br/>Ruger feels like the kind of dog who’s been ready for a home for a very long time — he just needed someone to finally notice.<br/><br/>Now that someone did, we’re not letting him be overlooked again.<br/><br/>Ruger would do beautifully in a variety of homes — whether it’s a family with kids, a home with another friendly dog, or someone simply looking for a steady, loving companion.
