Ruger's Story

Hi there, I’m Ruger — a just-turned-one-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer mix with good looks, big energy, and a zest for life! Since I celebrated my first birthday on April 25th, I still have plenty of puppy spirit left to share. If you’re looking for fun, adventure, and a loyal sidekick, I may be your guy.

I’m a friendly, outgoing boy who enjoys people and loves being part of the action. I’m even kid friendly! I do take my job as neighborhood security seriously, though. When strangers show up, I like to bark and let everyone know I’ve got things under control. But once I realize you’re a friend, I warm up quickly and am happy to add you to my fan club.

I’m dog friendly and can peacefully co-exist with cats too. I absolutely love to play — fetch is one of my favorite games, and romping around with other dogs is always a great time. After all that fun, I’m also more than happy to enjoy a nice brushing session. Handsome dogs need upkeep, after all.

Good news: I’m house trained and ready to move right in. I do have one little confession... I’m a talented jumper and can clear a fence faster than you’d think! I’ll need a family committed to helping me work on staying safely in the yard and channeling my athletic skills in the right direction.

If you’re searching for an energetic, smart, and fun-loving boy who can keep up with your active lifestyle, we should definitely meet. Give Heartland a call to set up a meet and greet — I’ll be ready!
