Rugby's Story

**Courtesy Post- This dog is not in the care of BACDR. Please see post for contact details** We received Rugby about 5 years ago. He is completely and fully house trained, letting us know he has to go our by sitting in front of us and whining under his breath. It's very cute. He obeys to sit, shake, high five (with his nose), spin, and jazz hands (by jumping in the air with his paws stretched upward). He sits and waits for his food and his treats until you say “okay.” Rugby likes to go camping and hiking, and has been trained to walk beside us on leash. He is a beautiful Red Healer with the proper face coloration, perky ears, and adorable black nose. He weighs about 55 pounds. His best friend is a female dog and they play together and often stay at each others house for short visits as well as long weekends. He loves to sit on our front porch and watch people walk by. He gets very protective when other dogs walk by, sometimes he get aggressive and we have to put him inside. While he plays well with female dogs after he gets to know them, he stays aggressive toward male dogs. He has not been around cats, but he does bark at the cats that he sees out of our windows. He get yearly checkups without fail, and he is current on all vaccinations and vet-care. He is spayed and receives monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventatives. He will be sorely missed, but we feel it is necessary to rehome him to a family that can love him and care for him. Please contact dtye@cedarville.edu for more information.
