RUGAR $275's Story
Meet Rugar (Roo)!

Roo is an 8-year-old, 40-pound Doodle mix with the gentlest soul. He’s just beginning to discover how wonderful life in a home can be, and he’s taking it all in with sweet curiosity.

Roo is a calm, observant boy who loves being near his people. He happily follows his foster family from room to room, quietly watching and waiting for cues about what to do next. He’s very eager to please and truly enjoys attention and companionship.

He’s been doing well in the house and has not had any accidents so far. Roo is learning a routine and continuing to figure out that potty time happens outside. A crate is available to him, and he will sometimes go in on his own to relax or take a nap.

Roo walks nicely on a leash and is learning to match the pace of his foster with a loose, relaxed leash. He’s a very polite gentleman who keeps all four paws on the floor and rarely barks. He’s also done well navigating steps and stoops around the townhouse.

Everything in this new life is still a little unfamiliar, so Roo can be cautious at first. He’s a gentle, sensitive boy who takes a moment to process new experiences, but once he realizes everything is safe, his sweet and trusting personality really shines.

Roo enjoys watching other dogs and may offer a friendly “woof” as a greeting, though he hasn’t yet interacted closely with them. He has not been around cats or children in his foster home yet.

What Roo loves most is simply being near his people—napping nearby or quietly keeping you company throughout the day.

Rugar is a sweet soul who is learning what it means to feel safe and loved. With a patient family and a little time, Roo will blossom into a loyal companion who just wants to be by your side. He may be waiting for someone just like you.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
