My life changed pretty suddenly. My owner went to jail, and the only home I knew disappeared. I ended up in another shelter with the dog I used to live with. He got adopted... but I didn't. <br/><br/>When I first arrived there, I had a pretty bad skin infection and my fur was missing from allergies. But the people there helped me get treatment and put me on the right diet, and now I'm finally starting to feel like myself again.<br/><br/>When that shelter ran out of space, I was transferred to FCAC so I could have another chance.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Underneath it all, I'm a gentle, loyal dog who bonds closely with my people.<br/><br/>New people can make me a little nervous at first. After everything I've been through, I just like to take a little time getting to know someone. But once I realize you're safe, I'm really sweet and affectionate.<br/><br/>Some things you should know about me:<br/><br/> I walk nicely on a leash and enjoy going for rides in the car<br/> I'm allergic to poultry, so I need food and treats without chicken, turkey, or duck. Salmon based food works great for me<br/> It's recommended I stay on allergy medication, and FCAC has said they're happy to help with that even after adoption!<br/> I've done well with a dog closer to my size, but would really love being your one and only!<br/> Because of my strong hound instincts, I need a home without cats, small dogs, or other small animals<br/> Loud little kids make me nervous, so a home with adults or older respectful kids would be best for me<br/><br/>What I'm really looking for is someone patient. Someone who understands that sometimes the best dogs are the ones who just need a little time.<br/><br/>I've already waited a long time for my second chance.
