Rufus is the epitome of what rescue is all about and this boy deserves a forever home!<br/><br/>Our rescue pulled Rufus when he was on a deadline plea set for euthanasia.<br/>When he came to Dog Gone Home, he was tattered, torn, and emaciated and he had puncture wounds. <br/><br/>This boy may look grey in the face, but those white flecks you see are healed wounds. He has not had it easy, BUT, you’d never know from his overall attitude and his willingness to please.<br/><br/>Yet, despite being failed by humans in the past, Rufus is a joyful, enthusiastic, loving 4-year-old Pittie mix!<br/><br/>After his quarantine, we placed him in a Lodge & Learn, where he received TLC, support, and training to understand that life can be good and humans can be kind. Rufus has now been living in a foster home, socializing with their resident dog while he waits to find his forever family. <br/><br/>More about Rufus:<br/>* Neutered & up to date on shots & microchipped<br/>* Weighs 63 lbs (approx)<br/>* He is friendly and excitable towards humans<br/>* Optimistically curious but primarily neutral to other dogs<br/>* Loves alternating between chasing and pouncing on his toys and sitting on your lap for scratches. <br/>* He is so happy when you come home and knows just how to make you feel loved! <br/>* He’s a quick learner who is highly motivated by treats.<br/>* Rufus can be over-stimulated in new environments or by very exciting things going on<br/>* He is non-aggressive, but may have a hard time focusing or may struggle not to act impulsively (he has built a strong foundation of skills and cues to help him in these situations)<br/><br/>Rufus’s best forever home includes:<br/>* A family/guardian who is committed to continuing to practice the skills he learned & make sure he continues his success story<br/>* Have a fenced yard so he can run and get his zoomies out <br/>* If kids, then children who are over the age of 12 due to his energy <br/>* A family or human that will spend quality time & cherish him<br/><br/>Adoption Fee: $350.00<br/><br/>If you are interested in Rufus, please fill out the adoption application:<br/>https://doggonehome.org/dog-adoption/<br/><br/>or email: adopt@doggonehome.org<br/><br/>Meet & Greet with other dogs and children is required.
