Rufus's Story

Meet Rufus, a 3-year-old German shepherd mix with a big heart and even bigger energy. At 70 pounds, he’s a strong, athletic boy who’s ready to take on life with an active, committed family.

Rufus is friendly, social, and very enthusiastic about people and the world around him. He needs work on basic commands like “come,” “sit” and “down” but, with structure and positive reinforcement, Rufus will blossom into a fantastic companion.

Because of his high energy, Rufus will do best with active adopters who can provide plenty of daily exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. Although he will sit with you on the sofa, he’s not a couch-potato. He’s looking for someone who enjoys hiking, running or similar activities that let him stretch his legs and satisfy his desire to explore.

If you’re searching for a loyal, energetic partner who will thrive with guidance and attention, Rufus might be your perfect match. He’s ready to put his whole heart into a home that’s ready to do the same.

Rufus is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has completed treatment and recovery for heartworms. His adoption fee is $200 which includes six months of heartworm prevention. We offer a three-week trial adoption period and will refund a dog’s adoption fee if it is returned within that period. For more information or an application, email us at info@savethestrays.org.
