Rudy (JN25-370)'s Story

Rudy is a 3-year-old Miniature Schnauzer weighing 12 pounds. She's a shy, sensitive girl who is still learning to trust people, but her strong food motivation makes treats a wonderful way to build positive connections and encourage her confidence.

Rudy is very attached to her canine companions and feels safest when she has another dog by her side. She requires a confident, friendly dog already established in the home to help her feel secure and navigate new situations. She also requires a securely fenced yard, where she can safely explore at her own pace.

Fast movements, loud noises, and unfamiliar situations can make Rudy nervous, so she needs a calm, predictable environment in order to continue making progress. A quiet household with consistent routines will help her feel safe and allow her personality to slowly shine through.

While Rudy may be reserved at first, she secretly enjoys being held by the people she trusts-those gentle moments help strengthen her bond once she feels safe. She enjoys puzzle toys that keep her mind engaged and responds well to positive, reward-based interactions.

Rudy will do best in a patient home that is confident handling small dogs and understands the needs of shy, sensitive pups. With time, consistency, and kindness, Rudy has the potential to blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who thrives alongside her canine friend.
------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
