Rudy • Happy Boy's Story

Meet Rudy! Rudy is a happy, mellow boy looking for his forever home! Rudy gets along with people and other dogs; he is polite and has a fun, slightly silly side when playing. Most of the time, though, he’s content to do his own thing and enjoys the world at his own pace.

Rudy is ready to bring his gentle charm, soft spirit, and quiet joy into a forever home of his own. If you’re looking for a calm, kind companion who asks for very little but gives so much, Rudy may be your perfect match.

His story: After being rescued from a severe hoarding case in Southern California, he made his way to Muttopia (one of CAPE’s wonderful rescue partners) and then into one of CAPE's loving foster homes. Through every step of his journey, Rudy has shown us nothing but sweetness and quiet resilience.

What his foster mom says:
Rudy is a “total gem.” From the moment he arrived, he made himself right at home, found a toy, curled up in his crate, and settled in as if he’d always been there. Rudy is perfectly happy with short walks, toy-bin treasure hunts, and chewing on his favorite toy of the day.

Personality & quirks:
Rudy loves people and is always delighted to make new friends. He is afraid of cats; he may growl if one gets too close or sprint away yelping if startled. He’s a sensitive soul!
Rudy is a super-sniffer who enjoys exploring with his nose. He doesn’t know many basic cues yet, but responds beautifully to gentle guidance and reliably comes when called. He’s very food-motivated but has shown no guarding or aggression. With other dogs, Rudy is wonderfully calm, respectful, and easygoing.
He’s not much of a barker, rides quietly in the car, and patiently tolerates baths and nail trims (even if he gets a little wiggly).

While we know Rudy has behaved well around children, we always recommend that proper introductions and guidance be provided.
