Rudy's Story

Rudy is between 1–2 years old, weighs about 25 lbs, and was surrendered when his previous family moved and couldn’t take him along. Now he’s looking for a home that’s ready for a whole lot of personality in one compact package. This boy is full of spunk and confidence. Rudy is absolutely convinced he runs the show, and if you let him, he will. He’s smart, determined, and always testing the boundaries to see what he can get away with. With that adorable face comes the need for structure, consistency, and training. Rudy has tons of energy and still has some strong puppy tendencies. He likes to puppy-bite during play, and he’s a jumper…on people, into faces, and he’s pretty persistent about it. He’ll need an owner committed to working on manners and helping him channel that enthusiasm in positive ways. When it comes to other dogs, Rudy hasn’t done well with other males and tends to want to be the boss of everyone. Because of that, dog introductions will be mandatory before adoption if there are other dogs in the home. He hasn’t been around cats, so we don’t know how he would do. He previously lived with children ages 3–11, but he does have a habit of stealing food right from hands, and sometimes teeth connect. For that reason, a home with older, dog-savvy kids may be the best fit. Rudy may be small, but he’s not low-key. He’s the perfect adventure buddy in a little body. Hikes, walks, road trips, he’s ready for it all. He just needs someone who understands that cute doesn’t mean easy, and who’s willing to put in the time to help him become the very best version of himself. If you’re looking for a bold, busy, hilarious sidekick and you’re ready to provide boundaries and leadership, Rudy might just be your guy.
