He’s a 7lb sweet, cuddly, and happiest when he’s snuggled up beside his favorite human. Once he feels safe, he bonds deeply and becomes the most loyal little shadow you could ask for. He loves a cozy bed, a sunny spot to lounge in, and quiet companionship throughout the day. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs.<br/> <br/>🐶 Home Habits<br/>Rudy is wonderfully easy to live with:<br/> <br/>• House trained — outdoors or pee pads (continued pee pad access is important at first). He may have an occasional accident, especially in a new home. A belly band is recommended initially if he marks.<br/>• Crate trained<br/>• Great in the car<br/>• Sleeps quietly through the night<br/>• Would absolutely love the chance to sleep in a human bed for extra cuddles<br/>He would do well in a calm home with older, respectful children. Rudy is a gentle boy who thrives in a peaceful, predictable environment.<br/> <br/>❤Medical Information<br/>Rudy has a grade 3 heart murmur and was diagnosed with mild heart disease following an echocardiogram. He will need to remain on his heart medications for life. His monthly medication cost is approximately $85 for a 30 day supply.<br/> <br/>Current Medication Plan: • Pimobendan (Vetmedin) 1.25 mg — 1 tablet AM, ½ tablet PM • Enalapril 2.5 mg — ½ tablet every 12 hours • Amlodipine 2.5 mg — ¼ tablet once daily in the PM<br/> <br/>Additional Notes:<br/> <br/>• Rudy has an increased anesthesia risk. Regular tooth brushing is important to help avoid future dental procedures.<br/>• If anesthesia is ever required, a risk/benefit assessment and modified protocol will be needed.<br/>• Recheck echocardiogram in 6 months, or sooner if he develops coughing, exercise intolerance, fainting, or a resting respiratory rate consistently above 30 breaths per minute.<br/>Despite his heart condition, Rudy is stable, happy, and ready to enjoy life with someone who will cherish him.
