Wellness visits can run from $75 to $150 for each visit. If you are thinking of adopting a puppy, it's a good idea to research these costs before adopting by calling the veterinarian of your choice.

Rucker is ready to spend spring with you!

Foster Home Feedback

3/27/26 Foster Feedback: Fun Facts About Rucker:

Rucker is amazing at “leave it.” He waits so patiently while giving you the best puppy-dog eyes to make sure you know he really, really wants whatever he’s leaving alone.

Rucker is a cuddle bug. If you let him, he’ll happily nap curled up right on top of you. Word of warning though: Rucker snores like a trucker!

Rucker does great walking on a leash. He doesn’t pull and walks nicely beside you. He’s still a puppy, so he does get distracted by the occasional leaf, but he’s easily redirected. We’re still working on not being scared of the invisible man tickling his backside on windy days, but he’s becoming more confident with every walk!

Kenneling has been going very well with Rucker. With the motivation of a tasty treat, he’ll put himself right in his kennel. He may whine for the first 5–10 minutes, but then he settles in for a nice nap. Rucker has been doing great in the kennel while I’m at work and can go about 4–5 hours before needing a potty break. I keep a camera on him so I can check in and see if he gets restless and might need a break sooner.

Rucker LOVES to play. He’s always up for a good game of tug-of-war with a person, another dog friend, or even a rope tied to a table leg.

Water isn’t just hydrating... it’s entertaining! Rucker could watch a leaky faucet all day long. He spends way too much time in the bathtub waiting for the next drip. And if you don’t want a soggy Rucker, you might want to shut the door when you’re showering.

Rucker can’t wait to snuggle you, play with you, and fill your house with lots of love.

3/22/26 Foster Feedback: Rucker and I attended the Valley Imports adoption event, where he got to reunite with his littermates and play his heart out. Rucker handled all the foot traffic like a pro, happily greeting people and doing great around other dogs. His only complaint? Not being allowed to sneak the pup cakes from his buddies who eat slower than he does.

When I say Rucker played hard, I mean nonstop from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. He didn’t take a single break—even when the other puppies needed naps. He just kept finding the next playmate. Rucker was given the nickname “Scrappy Doo” by one of the attendees and I think that describes him perfectly. Once we got home, he crashed hard and spent the rest of the afternoon snoring loudly.

Rucker is an enthusiastic lover. He adores people so much that he sometimes forgets not everyone appreciates sharp little puppy nibbles, but he’s learning quickly and redirects easily with toys or treats. He already knows “leave it” and “sit,” walks well on a leash, and is making great progress with potty training.

Rucker is the perfect mix of sugar and spice. He’s ready to bring cuddles, fun, and a little extra activity into his forever home.

3/17/2026 Foster Feedback: Rucker is such a fun pup with the perfect balance of playful and independent. He loves a good game of tug of war, but he is also happy entertaining himself by tossing around and “attacking” his toys.

Like any puppy, Rucker is still learning what is okay to chew on and what is not, but he is doing amazing with “leave it” already. He is also working on kennel training and leash skills, and for only being 11 weeks old, he is making great progress.

Rucker is doing fantastic with potty training. When taken outside regularly, he does his business like a pro. He is still learning how to alert when he needs to go out, but he has been very consistent with using puppy pads.

This smart boy already knows “sit” and is incredibly easy to train thanks to being so food motivated. In fact, he loves his kibble so much that we use mealtime as training time, and he thinks it is the best game ever.

Rucker may have the tough looks of a pit bull, but do not be fooled. He has the voice of a husky and is not afraid to use it.

Keep in mind, this sweet boy is still very much a puppy and will need continued training, patience, and lots of love as he grows.

3/10/26 Foster Feedback: Rucker is one sweet loving puppy! He has beautiful green eyes that connect with everyone he meets, his fur is soft, his forehead is squishy, and he comes with puppy breath -- what more could you want?

He is living with 5 other dogs and so can juggle different dogs for playtime - he can run laps and chase and wrestle and then plop down into a soft dog bed for a good long nap.

Rucker is coming along well on potty training -- if you catch him right when he wakes up from naps, after meals and after a long play session, he goes potty right away outside. Just remember he is only 9 weeks old so cut him some slack in that department. Note: Sticks are distracting, so he may require a little extra playtime outside on a nice day.

His recall is really amazing at this age - he must like his name, as he does come to it.

He is a very sensitive sole and is respectful if a dog does not want to engage in play with him. He seriously is the cutest, bestest boy and we'd love for him to find his very own home to call his own.Click here to watch a video of Rucker. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org
