Ruby's Story

Meet Ruby! This tiny gal transferred to us from the San Diego Humane Society.
Upon arrival, Ruby was skittish, hiding under her sling bed, not interested in food, and was in pure flight mode.
She learned the routine fairly quickly. She was going in and out of her kennel, eating, playing with her friends, and cautiously sniffing the staff.
When all her friends are clamoring around us for attention, Ruby will excitedly approach us, wag her tail, and then return to going about her business.
Ruby is a sweet, shy little girl, so we are taking baby steps to ensure she feels as safe as can be. Some staff are able to give her a few chest scritches here and there. Progress is slow but happening!
Ruby is well respected amongst her fellow rescue friends, is known to nip misbehavior in the bud, can rough and tumble during playtime, and loves to give her friends kisses!

Behavioral considerations: As mentioned above, staff have not been able to conduct solicited physical attention aside from some quick and occasional chest scritches. For vet visits, our staff member is able to corner Ruby, gently scoop her up by hand, and then easily carry her to the transport van.
With this pathway to success, we are taking things day-by-day to show Ruby that we are safe and she is loved.
A patient and compassionate home for our fearful/shy gal is where she will flourish.

Regarding COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses: Please reschedule any visits if you are sick.
