Ruby, 14 year old 8lb spayed female yorkie was surrendered to the shelter after her owner passed.

If you are looking for a lap dog and a dog to baby this is your girl. She is 8 pounds of sweetness! Before arriving at the shelter, she was clearly neglected. She had a bad, bad mouth, wracking cough and eyes encrusted closed. After a dental and medical care, lots of love and good food Ruby is thriving. She is not reactive to the two other dogs in the home at all.

While she can't hear she can see a little and confidently makes her way around the house after lots of exploration. And she can scoot - she is so fast that you need to watch every door and set of stairs when she's on walkabout. She wants lots of love and lap time and seeks attention. She loves to be brushed and massaged. She is a good eater when you add extra chicken and beef to her renal food. Ruby is great about getting her twice daily eye meds. With regular trips outside to go potty she's good during the day. At night she wears a size small diaper. Ruby has the typical Yorkie cough (collapsed trachea) periodically. And because of the kidney disease, she sometimes wakes up at night thirsty.
She's definitely not a yappy dog, but makes her needs known. When she's done being in the backyard, she will let me know to bring her in. She travels well in the car.
