Ruby

Physical Characteristics:<br/>Ruby is a 5 ½ year old American Staffordshire, born June 28, 2019. She is fawn and white and weighs in at a healthy 65 lbs. She will be spayed fully vet examined prior to adoption. To our knowledge, she has no known health issues.<br/><br/>Known History:<br/>Ruby has known only one family her entire life where she was loved and well cared for. She lived with her human brother (now 8 years old) and her 2 yr old feline brother. <br/><br/>Personality and Characteristics:<br/>Ruby loves humans of all gender, size, and energy. She has adjusted well into her foster home and demonstrated that she is cuddly and playful.<br/><br/>She has a good appetite and loves to ‘sing’ during meal preparation. She also has a very gentle mouth. <br/><br/>Although crate trained when she was younger, Ruby has not been crated for many years. She is used to having freedom in the house when left alone and has never displayed any negative habits or destructive behaviour. She will patiently await your return and welcome you home with a happy song.<br/><br/>Ruby is strong and will initially excitedly pull on her leash when walking with her human, but she responds very well to verbal commands and settles well into a walking routine. She has learned to ‘wait’ at the door. She is not a fan of cold weather but loves her walks and doesn’t resist wearing her coat.<br/><br/>Since being attacked by another dog a few years back, she has no interest in meeting other dogs. She displays a little tension when passing other dogs but with a confident leader she has learned to quietly pass them without incident. When outside in her own yard, she is playful, independent and quietly explores her property. She will happily engage in a short game of fetch, although her interest is short for fetching. She much prefers exploring. <br/><br/>Typical of her breed, she gets the ‘zoomies’ from time to time, but otherwise enjoys curling up on the couch beside her human.<br/><br/>Ruby is eager to please and responds well to a leader who can communicate clearly and confidently. <br/> <br/>Her recall is a work in progress and has already improved as she bonds with her humans and will continue to improve with more training. <br/><br/>True to her breed, Ruby loves being with her humans, and loves the sound of laughter. She will sleep on your bed all night and will not move until you get up.<br/><br/>Ruby’s ideal family would be someone that loves to spend a lot of time with her, daily walks and car rides.
