She’s a working dog through and through, with all the drive, focus, and energy that come with her breeds — yet she also has the soul of a house dog. She’ll happily play fetch until she’s too tired to walk, but she’s just as content lounging on the couch or sunbathing for hours.<br/><br/>Ru is exceptionally smart and thrives when given clear structure and communication. She responds well to training with someone who understands how to speak her language. And while she can sometimes be independent, don’t be surprised when she nudges in for snuggles or gives you that unmistakable look that says, “It's time to play or cuddle.”<br/><br/>Ru’s journey hasn’t been easy. She has a history of biting — a fact we share not to scare you, but because transparency is essential. These incidents were not random. They were rooted in fear, overstimulation, and being placed in environments that didn’t set her up for success. She’s not a “bad” dog — she’s a misunderstood one. Ru needs a handler who is experienced with high-drive breeds like Shepherds or Malinois, someone who can read dog body language, maintain calm leadership, and provide the stable, structured environment she deserves.<br/><br/>Ru is not a fit for homes with young children or frequent visitors unless she has a dedicated space to retreat to. Like many of us, she can be cautious around new dogs — but once a bond is formed, she becomes a loyal playmate and snuggle buddy.<br/><br/>She loves outdoor adventures, especially off-leash hikes and park time, and while she can be a bit anxious around busy streets, she enjoys walks and runs when approached with patience. She’s been trained using methods from a former police canine trainer and has experience with e-collar training. When used correctly, the collar helps her focus in high-distraction situations — often, just seeing the remote is enough to bring her back to center.<br/><br/>Due to recent changes in our own lives - Ru’s current situation is urgent, and her future is uncertain.
