Without hesitation, the shelter staff answered, "Roxy."<br/><br/>In a shelter with a heartbreaking 75% euthanasia rate, where only one out of every four dogs makes it out alive, that answer spoke volumes.<br/><br/>Roxy is a 4-5 year old Border Collie mix whose life has never been easy. She spent years living on the property of a home where she was often left to fend for herself while her owners struggled with addiction. Most days, she wandered the streets of Middlesboro, finding kindness wherever she could. <br/><br/>The people in town knew her. They fed her, loved on her, and watched out for her. She made friends with other dogs and somehow found joy despite having so little.<br/><br/>She was picked up by animal control more times than anyone can count, only to be returned to the same life over and over again because there was nowhere else for her to go.<br/><br/>Through it all, Roxy never stopped loving people.<br/><br/>She greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and the sweetest smile, as if she's convinced that every new person could be the one who changes her life forever. There isn't an ounce of bitterness in heronly hope.<br/><br/>Roxy would make a wonderful family companion. She adores people and has so much love to give. She does well with other dogs after a proper meet-and-greet. Like many dogs, she has her preferences, but when she finds a canine friend she clicks with, it's a friendship for life.<br/><br/>For years, Roxy belonged to everyone in town...yet she never truly belonged to anyone.<br/><br/>Now it's her turn.<br/><br/>Her turn to have a family who won't let her wander alone. A warm bed that's always hers. A yard to play in. Someone who will know she's home every single night.
