Roxy's Story
Roxy was brought in from a sprint mushing kennel to the shelter in September and had few people take interest in her. After fostering her for a few weekends, it was apparent that people were overlooking a true gem of a dog. Roxy is awesome! She has a cool star pattern in her right eye, but the shelter vet said it doesn't affect her or her vision whatsoever.

At just one-year old, she is more than ready to start living her best life with her forever human and adventure buddy. She is small in size but big in heart. And despite being small, she is a fantastic puller! She would be a great addition to a recreational mushing team or for someone who wants to skijor/bikejor - already excelling at both and running in lead.

We are currently housing her in the dog yard on a tether with a house, which she is very comfortable with. She is still shy inside and with strangers, but does not take long to warm up to you. Being comfortable outside on a tether is a big bonus for when you need to leave for work for the day and want to ensure she's happy, safe, and not confined to a kennel for long hours. She will need continued work with house training and getting comfortable inside, but we are confident it won't take long before she's snuggling on the couch.

She is great with other dogs and loves free-run and play time, although this should take place in a fenced area until you're more assured of her recall ability. This tiny champ is smart, tough, and capable. She's ready for all kinds of Alaskan adventures!

In order to adopt an SCL dog, see "How To Adopt" at https://secondchanceleague.org/adopt.php and download an Adoption Application--we can't consider you without one!
