This brave, resilient girl is looking for a gentle, patient family who will show her how wonderful a dog's life can be!<br/><br/><br/> General Behavior: Roxy has not had an easy life so far: she used to be a breeder dog, and she can be a little fearful of new people at first. She warms up quickly to women, but she is terrified of men. In a new situation, she will pace and keep moving around until she gains your trust and becomes more comfortable in her environment. Once you gain her trust, she will be a "velcro dog", following you everywhere and giving you warm licks. During the day she likes to stay close to her foster mom or sit on the top of the sofa to keep an eye on her as she's working around the house<br/> Likes & Dislikes: Roxy loves to be close to her person. She will sleep in the humans' bed at night, as long as there is no man. Otherwise, she will sleep under the bed. She is also an outdoorsy girl who enjoys taking walks, looking out the windows and being outside.<br/> Training: Roxy had a difficult start to life before coming to PPR, but she has adjusted well to living in a house. She is housetrained if let out frequently, she can walk on a leash, and she rides well in the car.<br/> Medical: Roxy is a healthy girl. She just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any Floridian dog. <br/> Other Animals: Roxy gets along with dogs of all sizes and mostly ignores them. She has not been observed around cats, but her fosters think that she would be OK with them.<br/> Children: Due to Roxy's fear, she must be adopted in a home without children. <br/> Home: Roxy would do well in a single-family home, condo, or apartment. A fenced yard is not required, but it would be a bonus because she likes to spend time outside.<br/> Grooming: As a Maltipoo, Roxy does not shed.
