Roxie's Story
Roxie was found by her rescuer outside a local museum. She seemed to be wanting to learn more history and be smarter in order to appeal to a new family :) She has been in foster care since July 2024.

With a guesstimated birthday in Jan. 2024, Roxie weighed 12 lb at her vet exam in July 2024. At her spay in Aug. 2024 she weighed 20 lb. At her last vet visit in Aug. 2025 she weighed 32 lb. She is up-to-date on core vaccinations and her heartworm test in Aug. 2025 was negative. She's on monthly heartworm prevention.

Roxie resembles a Manchester Terrier, with their black & tan coat pattern as well as their pricked ears.

Roxie is house trained. Her foster takes her out for a potty break every 3 hours during the day to help reinforce this. She is able to wait all night, keeping her crate clean. She loves to sleep and cuddle with her people. When sleeping together, she wants to snuggle as close as she can, but will lie at the bottom of the bed if her foster mom tells her "Go to bed."

Roxie enjoys going places with her people. She doesn't particularly care for the ride, but wants to be where her peeps are so tolerates it, usually curling up on the floor board on a soft crate pad. She loads up easily and should be tethered so she doesn't infringe on the driver's space or exit the car before her handler is ready. Trips for pup cups are always appreciated :) She is timid in new situations, but is showing improvement as she experiences more.

Roxie likes polite dogs and her preferred playstyle is running. She can be assertive with dogs who are impolite, but has learned tolerance with her pack of foster dogs. She has a high play level so would enjoy a playmate in her new home. She is very people oriented.

Roxie ignores the cats in her foster home and the horse in the pasture next door. She loves to run with her doggy friends. She is leash savvy but will pull some to get to exciting things.

**************************************************
IF YOU ARE USING PET FINDER:
Please go to our website, foothillscaninerescue.org
Choose Adopt/Adopt a Dog and find the dog you are interested in
Click "Apply for Adoption" button to fill out an application

ALL ADOPTERS:
When adopting an intact dog, a refundable spay/neuter deposit is required, and a vet reference may be required. The Adoption Counselor will explain this at the time of adoption.
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed. An additional fee for the 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.
Foster dogs are shown on a rotating schedule at our Saturday Adoption Events which occur several times a month at Waggin' Tail Resale store located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd, Lenoir. Additionally, Meet & Greets can be scheduled with a specific dog on Saturdays (11am-3pm) in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale. Additional times for Meet & Greets may be scheduled depending on the schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents.
Shelter Dogs can be seen at the Bunch Anderson Shelter (BAS) on Saturdays from 12pm-3:30pm, or by appointment.
