Rowan Whitethorn's Story

Meet Rowan! He's 1 of 15 dogs that came into the shelter in early August as part of a neglect case. Rowan was starved and under-socialized, but through the care of staff and volunteers at CMHS, he is gaining confidence and trust in people again. Three square meals a day doesn't hurt either! Rowan is very food-motivated and will happily sit for a treat. He has also been going out on day trips with volunteers to see the world and make friends.

His foster says " Rowan was initially a bit skittish - very alert and curious with new noises. Thankfully, this only lasted a few hours at home and then he quickly settled in.
He loves attention and belly rubs and warms up quickly to people. So far he hasn't really wanted to play with toys or balls. He is content to be with his people, get lots of pets and treats and enjoys rolling in the grass.
He has had no accidents in the house and seems to be a quick learner. He has learned to sit, lay down and is doing great with walking on leash.
He is a sweet boy who will be a wonderful addition to someone's home."

**Rowan is being treated for a skin infection while in shelter care. Ongoing monitoring for his skin will be needed with adopter's veterinarian, which could include further diagnostics and treatment. Underlying environmental or food allergies could be a cause and could require ongoing management.

Rowan has severe dental wear, particularly over the front incisors, and will need a dental with adopter's veterinarian if it hasn't been completed while in shelter care.
