Roux's Story

A 4-year-old Belgian Malinois mix with an old soul and a loyal heart.

Roux started out his foster journey very stressed and nervous, he didn't have leash walking skills, would cross the street if another dog was on the same side, and was too anxious for treats. After some time gaining his trust, and a much needed surgery relieving pressure on his spine he slowly opened up and showed his true outgoing, friendly, gentlemanly, and loving self. Now he loves everyone and wants to meet every person and dog we see. He is super food motivated and wants to please so much, he's really easy to train and is very well behaved. He'll be easy for someone else to work with him on how they want him to respond.

Inside the home, Roux is the definition of polite. He’s calm, tidy, and has impeccable manners. He’ll quietly sit near you with his legs adorably crossed, checking in to see whether it’s cuddle time or independent time. Speaking of cuddles, Roux is very affectionate and loves nothing more than a good snuggle, he even gives hugs. He's so tender and gives little kisses but isn't a big licker and will snuggle up to you with the most adorable groans.

And if you’re busy? He’ll simply walk away and settle himself.

He is not destructive, is eager to learn, and listens beautifully. He does love to guard the house, lounging in a recliner by the window and barking at passing people and dogs. If his barking is too much we call him and he comes running. He really is the best boy.

Roux thrives with daily activity like walks, trips to the dog park, and lots of play. His absolute favorite activity? Playing keep away with one of his stuffed toys! He does not have the energy Malinois are known for though, he's pretty happy with a good hour or so of walk/play each day.

He has his own fan club of shelter volunteers who visit his foster home to take him for walks-his excitement and joy are contagious. A secure yard would be a dream for this boy to stretch his legs and enjoy his playful spirit.

Roux has been living with an 8 pound chiweenie, a senior corgi mix, and a senior pittie. He loves all dogs, trips to the park are so much fun with Roux, he gently introduces himself to everyone.

Roux isn’t looking for just any adopter-he’s waiting for his person or family. Someone gentle, patient, kind, and willing to go slow. In return, he’ll give you unwavering companionship, connection, and a love that feels earned and extra special. We're confident that Roux will transfer to a new home well, he is such a lover that once you gain his trust he'll transfer his love to you.

If you’re looking for a deeply devoted dog who will adore you, Roux might just be your soul dog.

Letting go of Roux will be really hard for his foster family but they know the right home is out there for him.

If you like to meet Roux, please help us learn more about you and your household by filling out our online application:

www.tinyurl.com/AdoptMeNow
