Roulette's Story

Name: Roulette

This little girl got her name because bringing her to the rescue was a gamble, but in the end it paid off! We call her Rou (pronounced Roo) for short.

Breed: Mixed breed, best guess is Hound/Pointer mix of some sort

DOB: approx 9/1/23

Weight: 55 lbs

Likes: Playing, toys, cuddles with foster mom!

Energy Level: She loves to run and play with her foster siblings. She really likes going for walks and exploring. But then she likes to cuddle up in her foster mom's lap.

Housebroken: As long as you are taking her out consistently, Rou is great! But if she doesn't fully empty herself and you miss a cue, she may have an accident. She is very smart and should pick this up pretty quickly.

Medical notes: Roulette has been seen by our vets and has received a clean bill of health! She has had all of her vaccines, has been spayed and microchipped, and is on a monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention

Foster Notes: We don't know exactly what this girl went through in the early part of her life, but she must have loved a human at some point. Rou was found living in a culvert, sleeping in a drainage pipe when she was just 4 months old. At the time, noone knew her age or breed because she was pretty elusive of people. Some kind samaritans finally trapped her, and Rou was terrified.

We decided to take a chance and bring her into foster care. And by that evening, Rou was cuddling in her foster mom's lap. She warmed up extremely quickly to her foster mom. But, for others it can take a little time to earn her trust. Rou is building social skills like crazy! She came in as a timid dog, but her foster mom has been working on outings to help build her social skills. We have learned that she is a WATER DOG! Rou loves trips that include ponds or lakes where she can swim, splash, and play.

Rou's ideal home: Will have a fully fenced yard for her to run and play in safely, at least one other dog in the home who is friendly and outgoing so that Rou can take cues from them, and people who are patient and understand that sometimes you need to let a dog warm up to you without pushing them too much. Because she can still be a little nervous with people as she is getting to know them, an adult-only home is a better match for her than a home with kids.

If you are interested in giving Rou the permanent, loving home that she deserves, please fill out an application at the link below to get the ball rolling on a meet and greet.

https://form.jotform.com/202046006590041

If this link doesn't open by clicking on it, just copy and paste it into a new browser.

Adopters must live within a 45 mile radius of Winston-Salem.
