ROSS's Story

Out of a litter of 9 puppies dumped in the Piedmont/Freeport area between midnight on Sept. 11 and 6:30am Sept. 12, only 2 are left waiting for forever homes at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH. Meet ROSS. He will be 5 months old, born on May 19. ROSS is one of the smaller pups, weighing in at 28 lbs. The vet thinks he will be about 55-60 lbs.. When he first came to our pound, ROSS was very shy and awkard with little socialization while he tried to figure out that not all people have an evil streak in them. Fortunately, we’ figured out the way to win him over: food! Like most males of any species, the quickest route to their hearts is thru their stomachs. He might have been a little suspicious of you at first, but now he realizes you’re the one holding the treats and that makes you very interesting and approachable. He is no longer timid. ROSS is more submissive and allows his brother to take his food and his treats. He used to cower when he'd meet other dogs; now he approaches them cautiously and allows them to sniff and play with him.

Harrison County Dog Pound. 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43950.
